Syaoran, who was already at his front door slammed his fist into the concrete wall. Sakura, I’m going to miss you so much. He sighed.
“Master Xiao Lang,” Wei had already put the luggage in the living room. Syaoran took a deep breath.
“Let‘s go, Wei.” He said.
The next morning, Sakura woke up with her eyes hurting and swollen. She was still wearing the same clothes as last night. She hugged her body and bit her lip, trying not to cry.
She went downstairs after taking a shower and found her father and brother talking in the kitchen lowly and somewhere in the conversation she heard her name.
“Ohayou,” Sakura mumbled, sitting on the table and facing her mother’s picture.
Fujitaka and Toya stared at her in disbelief.
“Ohayou,” They both said synchronized. Sakura sighed, laying her head on the table.
“I‘m going to Tomoyo‘s house today, I don‘t think I‘ll be back for lunch or dinner,” She said, getting up again and going out the front door.
“I wonder what‘s wrong with her, she didn‘t even ask for breakfast and that‘s usually the first thing she asks for.” Toya said. Fujitaka had a worried look on his face.
Sakura walked, looking down the whole time and remembering last night’s events.
Already in China, Syaoran came out of the limousine to see his mother and four sisters standing outside the house, waiting for him. He sighed and plastered the fakest smile he could.
“Hello Mother,” He bowed and stared at the beautiful Yelan.
“Hello Syaoran, it‘s good to see you again,” She smiled, reaching for his hands.
“I‘m glad you‘re taking over the business,” She said, welcoming him inside his home.
Back in Tomoeda things weren’t exactly going well either.
“Tomoyo, I can‘t bare myself without him.” Sakura cried into Tomoyo’s lap after telling her best friend what had happened. Tomoyo was speechless at her revelation.
“It‘ll be okay Sakura, trust me.” Tomoyo rubbed her arm. “Li-Kun will come back soon,” Tomoyo hoped that this was true. She was praying that it was true.
Time passed by, Sakura and Syaoran hadn’t communicated. Syaoran, too afraid she would still be mad, didn’t call her. Sakura, desperately wanting to call him so she lets him know she’s not mad anymore, has no way to reach him. They dance around each other and can’t do anything about it.
Five months flew by, Sakura still as depressed as ever. She mostly spends time with Tomoyo. Her father has insisted on taking her out somewhere for the week along with Toya but she declines, telling him that she’s fine and not to loose track of his job. This has them both worried sick. Toya isn’t even crossing her path, scared that she will become a real monster and send him back where he came from. He knew better than to mess with a bothered Sakura. He knew his sister too well.
Tomoyo fixed a few things around her room, occasionally taking glances at her best friend.
“My legs are cramping up a lot lately,” Sakura complained, rubbing one of her hands up and down her right leg while eating a cupcake with the other. Tomoyo paused.
“Hmm, these are so good do you have any more?” Sakura licked her lips and drank the rest of her tea, serving herself more.
Tomoyo sat on her bed, covering her mouth delicately. “Sakura, this is the third tray of six cupcakes that I‘ve brought you and I haven‘t eaten not even one, how can you possibly want more?” Tomoyo asked, completely baffled.
“Really? I thought it was my first one, Ha, I‘m also forgetful lately too.” She giggled.
Tomoyo’s brows creased, thinking maybe she’s still on that awful depression that Syaoran caused to her. About three months ago Toya would tell Tomoyo that Sakura would wake up in the middle of the night screaming and crying and then in the mornings she would throw up everyday but she refused to go to the doctor. Then two months ago she would get dizzy easily and would take things way too calmly and she even fainted a few times. It was like Syaoran had given her a whiplash of emotions. She would go to the bathroom every hour as well. Last month she even had a nosebleed, she’s had trouble sleeping, her appearance had changed, her hair had grown and it was shinier than ever and she even got frustrated over any little thing. Tomoyo tapped her chin and then gasped in horror. There was two possibilities why these things have happened and Tomoyo certainly has a clue of a very serious one that might cause an uproar.
Could it be? I mean, nausea, fainting, bathroom rush, eating abundantly, mood swings, dizziness, oh Kami-Sama! Sakura’s pregnant! Tomoyo shouted mentally while staring at her calm friend.
Sakura was laying face down in Tomoyo‘s bed reading a magazine.
“Tomoyoooo, I‘m hungry,” Sakura cried, whiningly. Tomoyo didn’t move.
“Sakura, listen to me carefully when I ask you something, okay?” Tomoyo kept her voice even but serious. Sakura sat up and then that’s when Tomoyo saw it. A bump in her flat stomach. She’s never in her life had anything but a smooth flat stomach. Now there was a small bump by her uterus.
“I‘m listening,” Sakura waved her hand in front of Tomoyo’s face. She winced and drew her attention to the two green orbs staring back at her.
“Did He use… protection that night?” Tomoyo emphasized the word ‘he’, not wanting to say Syaoran’s name because she knew I’d hurt her friend by saying it.
Sakura was taken aback by this and she thought about it.
“No, not really.” She was calm about it. Tomoyo gasped again, crawling closer to her.
“Sakura, you know what this means right?” Tomoyo said half excited and half sad. Sakura tilted her head and pursed her lips.
“It means that I shouldn‘t have never done anything with him without protection?” Sakura took a guess, making Tomoyo sweat drop and fall flat on her face in her bed.
“Nooo, well yes that but uh- Sakura, you‘re pregnant.” Tomoyo finally said. Sakura’s eyes widened.
“HOEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!” Sakura screamed, making a few birds outside Tomoyo’s window fly away scared to death. Tomoyo covered her ears, stumbling back a little.
“No, I can‘t be, what‘s wrong with you? How can you make such a pompous assumption!” Sakura threw herself off the bed and began to pace back and forth.
“Sakura calm down, just think about it! You know the symptoms, think Sakura, think!” Tomoyo’s voice got mixed in with Sakura’s thoughts and then it hit her. The morning sickness, the dizzy spells, the mood swings she had.
“Oh, Tomoyo! Oh Tomoyo!” Sakura began to cry, kneeling down in front of her friend.
“Let‘s buy a home pregnancy test,” Tomoyo said, grabbing her purse and pulling Sakura out of the room. Sakura’s phone rang and she picked up.
“Sakura speaking,” She tried to sound normal.
“SAKURA! Where are you?” Kero’s voice sounded angry. Sakura looked at Tomoyo who apparently heard Kero’s agonized voice.
“Tell him we‘re making a dress,” Tomoyo said, driving down the street.
“Tomoyo and I are making a dress, I‘ll be home in an hour so please help yourself to some food in the refrigerator, I even left you pudding from yesterday‘s dessert!” Sakura said. Kero yelped in joy.
“Okay, bye!” He hung up. Sakura sighed as the driver from Tomoyo’s car stopped in the nearest drugstore. Tomoyo got out and told Sakura to wait with the driver.
She began to think about the little thing inside her. She pressed her fingertips on her lower stomach and it definitely felt harder and more round. It made her jump.
“A little Syaoran or a little me,” Sakura’s eyes began to tear up in joy and anger at the same time. What would Syaoran say and do if he found out?. She thought. She leaned her head on the window and wrapped her arms around her belly, imagining her child as a replica of her beloved or herself.
Meanwhile, back in Hong Kong, Syaoran was running up and down trying to give people some paper work to finish. Mei Ling was his secretary and she was in charge of letting him know when the next meeting would be. Everyone was happy that Syaoran became the new president of the Li Corporation.
“Do I get to take a break?” Syaoran sighed, leaning on Mei Ling’s desk. She smacked his head.
“Yes but only an hour break, your next meeting is at 4pm.” She said, giving him a schedule for it. He groaned and looked at his clock.
2:58pm. He had enough time to relax for a while. “Arigato Mei Ling-” He began.
“I mean Xie Xie, Mei Ling,” He ran his hand through his locks and walked away, into the elevator. He hated speaking Japanese now that he was no longer in Tomoeda and even more because it reminded him of Sakura.
Mei Ling knew how in love he was with Sakura and she felt really upset that he had to be here and not with her. She knew that Sakura felt the same way about Syaoran and now that he’s so frustrated that he can’t get some things done and annoyed at the obnoxious people, Mei Ling wishes that she could do something about the two meeting each other again.
“Can I get coffee please?” Syaoran smiled at the cashier from the cafeteria downstairs.
“Here you go Li-Sama,” She smiled and handed him hot coffee. He paid and went to the back where they had cherry blossom tree which he loves sitting under everyday when he had time. Even though he was only sixteen he was so used to living the adult life. Coffee, business and everything else. It was very astounding watching him work the way he did at such a young age. So young.
“Good Afternoon,” Ryuo waved. He was an old friend of Syaoran’s before he moved to Japan for studies and for the Clow Cards.
“Good Afternoon Ryou-Kun,” Syaoran sighed, disappointed since he thought he’d be alone.
“Why do you always come to this tree?” Ryou asked, sitting next to him. Syaoran looked up at the pink floundering petals that fell down slowly.
“It reminds me of someone,” Syaoran smiled, contently. Ryou looked at him.
“Your girlfriend?” He elbowed him, laughing a little but stopped when Syaoran didn’t bulge.
“The most important person to me,” Syaoran replied, turning his stare toward Ryou.
He looked down, thinking about what Sakura might be doing but he was completely and absolutely sure that she hated him. He wasn’t allowed to have a life anymore now that he has to run this place so he hasn’t called her, written to her or anything. She must loath him.
“Okay go check what it is,” Tomoyo ordered Sakura to check the thermometer looking stick. Sakura nodded, eager to find out. She closed her eyes and picked up the stick.
“Uh, what do the two blue lines mean?” Sakura asked, inspecting the thing. Tomoyo screamed.
“WHAT?” Sakura rushed out, almost tripping over a cushion.
“It says you‘re pregnant,” Tomoyo threw the box aside and hugged Sakura who surprisingly wasn’t crying but she was smiling.
“You mean I‘m going to have a little Syaoran?” She said, not even wincing at his name. Tomoyo swallowed hard. Tomoyo was having a hard time dealing with this and she isn’t even the one who’s pregnant.
“Or a little Sakura, how are you going to tell Toya and your dad?” Tomoyo asked. Sakura’s shiny eyes disappeared and turned black.
“Oh Kami-Sama.” She stayed in a blank expression.
