Chapter 6-- Desperate Preparation
"Master.... Master Li!" Li felt someone shake him and whisper, almost to quietly to hear. Li stirred and rolled over to see Shot, looking rather distressed.
"Sire..." Shot said quietly. "Don't you think you are... cutting it close?"
"What?" Li looked confused until he saw the window for the first time. The room was beginning to fill with a soft orange light.
"Why didn't you wake me sooner, Shot?!" Li would have sounded angry had he not been so tired.
"Sire, you look like you were sleeping deeply. You haven't had good sleep since you were a child."
Li sighed and looked over at his wife. It was the first time he had seen her in the light since she came to live with him. He smiled softly at the sleep Sakura.
She seems more beautiful each time I see her.
He softly brushed her cheek and kissed her forehead before getting out of bed and heading for the door.
"Don't forget..." Shot stopped Li before he exited. "..to talk to Yukito."
"I won't." Li replied. "As long as it is in my power, Sakura will never been sad." and with that Li shut his bedroom door gently and headed to Olympus.
Even though the sound of the shutting door was almost inaudible, it seemed to stir Sakura into consciousness. She opened her eyes slowly before she smiled widely and stretched. She rolled over and looked out of her large window. The sun was bathing everything in the softest orange light. It was almost like a painting to her. Like someone had run their brush over this world.. like it was created only for her.
Suddenly she something she hadn't before. A good distance away from the castle she saw someone with large white wings. They were flying away in haste. Sakura stood and moved to the window, squinting, hoping to catch a glimpse of the person's face, but she failed. All she noticed was that it was a boy.
"What are you doing, princess?" Shot asked, acting as if he had only just arrived.
"I thought I saw something.." Sakura said, smiling out of the window.
"Oh?" Shot sounded almost uneasy. "And what did you see?" he asked.
"I think.. it was an angel." She replied happily. "But I can't be that far gone.." she whispered.
"An.. angel huh?" Shot was worried now. Surely she wouldn't think.
Suddenly she laughed. "It would explain alot.."
"What do you mean?" Shot asked.
"Well.." she turned and smiling brightly at Shot. "My seeing an angel would mean I was in Heaven... and being in Heaven would explain why everything is so wonderful here."
Shot laughed lightly.
"You would tell me... wouldn't you Shot?" Sakura asked.
"Tell you what princess?"
"If I were dead... you would tell me?"
Although he knew Sakura couldn't see him, he smiled softly at her. "Of course I would, princess."
"Heh, thank you!" Sakura laughed again.
Suddenly the doors burst open.
"Helllllllloooo princess!" rang the voices of the Twins in unison.
"Come on Sakura, time to get changed!" Voice said, following behind them.
"Shoooo Shot!" Hope said happily.
"You may be a servant, but you're still a boy!" Sand said.
"Don't push me!" Shot said, sounding like he was struggling.
Suddenly the door shut, and all of the girls started laughing. Sakura laughed as well.
"You shouldn't be so mean." Sakura said, smiling.
"Then you shouldn't laugh." Sand said, still laughing.
Outside of the door Shot stood and took a deep breath. He looked up at the tall ceiling and closed his eyes.
"I shouldn't feel this way.." he sighed to himself. "It's not fair..."
but she's so kind....
--
By the time Li met up with Eriol he was winded, and very late. But Eriol just laughed.
"Running late today.. Li"
"Shut up..." Li said trying to catch his breath.
"Did you sleep in?" Eriol asked with a smile.
"Shot didn't wake me up." Li said. He took a deep breath. "I... I think she saw me." he sounded worried.
Eriol's smile disappeared for a moment. "You think?"
"It's fine! I was too far away for her to see me face!" Li said, reassuring himself.
Eriol smiled again. "Then why are you worried?"
"I'm not! Shut up!" Li said, sharply.
Eriol sighed. " I don't know why I put up with your abuse." Eriol said jokingly.
"Because you love me." They had rehersed this scene for years.
"Oh yeah."
"Yukito!" Li said suddenly.
"You're cheating on me?" Eriol looked hurt.
"I completely forgot. I have to go find him." Li whispered to himself.
"At least he's attractive." Eriol sighed.
"Gotta go!" Li said and he flew off quickly.
"He doesn't love you like I do!!!!" Eriol yelled after him.
--
Li flew for a half hour before he saw Yukito's silver hair reflecting the morning light. He landed behind his old friend.
"You know Yukito." Li said with his usual stoic face. "You can get paint and dye your hair a darker color."
Yukito turned and smiled widely at his old friend. "Now why would I do that?"
"One of these days someone is going to fly by you and your hair is going to blind them! Then they'll crash and it will all be because of your hair!" Li said.
"Li... just because it happened to you doesn't mean it will happen to anyone else."
"... shut up." Li felt like he had said that alot today.
"How is your... friend?" Yukito asked, chuckling at his young companion.
"She's.. the reason I'm here, actually." Li said.
"Oh? What's happened?"
"She was sick." Li said.
"Is she ok?" Yukito asked, worried.
"She's fine! It was homesickness... she was just really sad. I promised her that her family could come see her tomorrow." Li said.
"Oh.." Yukito sighed, relieved that it wasn't anything serious. Humans are so delicate. "I'm glad to hear she is ok." Yukito smiled sincerely.
Li was silent for a moment, trying to figure out how he was going to ask his friend to go and pick up her family.
"Yes." Yukito said as if answering a question.
"yes what?" Li asked.
"Yes, what ever your favor is. Consider it done." Yukito chuckled at Li.
"Her family will be in the same place Sakura was when you picked her up. Can you pick them up and bring them to my castle.. please?" Li asked, even though he knew the answer.
"Most certainly! But... who will be telling the family where to go?" Yukito asked, his smile never wavering.
Li put his hand on his head as if he had a migraine. "Damn.. I never asked Eriol to talk to Clow.... damn."
"Perhaps you should go do that?" Yukito replied.
"Shut up." Li replied. He was wearing himself out with all of this flying.
"Why doI put up with your abuse, Li? I even do favors for you!" Yukito said, joking.
"Because you love me." Li sighed.
"Oh yeah."
Li started flying away again.
Yukito smiled and waved idly.
--
By the time Li got back to Eriol he was out of breath again.
"I knew you'd come back to me." Eriol smirked as he bounced his ball off of the wall.
"Is this all you ever do?" Li had to ask while he tried to catch his breath.
"To your knowledge." Eriol laughed.
"Eriol! I need you... to do me... a favor." Li managed to saw between breaths.
Eriol lifted an eyebrow. "What's that?"
Li sat down beside his friend. "Can you get ahold of Clow?"
"Of course." Eriol replied, half laughing. To him, that was a silly question.
"I need you to tell him to tell Sakura's family..." Li stopped for a moment to make sure he said that right. "Yeah, tell them that if they would like to see Sakura again that they have to come to the same mountain in which they left her. Yukito will pick them up and take them back to my house."
"Ok... but can I reword it? It sounds like a ransom note." Eriol laughed.
"Oh, shut up!" Li laid back.
You know.. it did kinda sound like a ransom note.
--
It was noon at the castle. Sakura was moving quickly around, talking to servants about what they would do for her family tomorrow. At this moment, she was in the kitchen talking to the cooks.
"You're family's coming, huh?" Time said calmly.
"I'll make a million cakes!!" Sweet said excited.
"We can't just have cakes... I'll make the entres!" Windy said happily.
"Hey! Fine, then I'll make the main course." Cloud said.
"I'll help you." Thunder said.
"I'll make the soups then." Time sighed
"Then what do you want me and Sword to do?" Jump asked.
"Actually.." Sakura smiled at her invisible friends. "I was wondering if you guys could do something special for my brother."
"Definatly!" Jump replied.
"Like what?" Sword asked stoically.
"I.. don't know." She smiled sweetly. "Anything. You are all so good, I'm sure you'll know something wonderful."
"No problem." Sword agreed.
"You know what?!" Cloud grabbed Sakura's hands. "This is a special occasion! You should go see the entertainers!"
"The... who?" Sakura was confused.
"Gasp! Shot! You haven't taken her to see the entertainers?" Cloud sounded angry.
"Or the medics, gardeners, bodyguards, and she's only met one laundry girl and one room servant." Shot sighed. He knew he was getting ready to get in trouble.
"What?! Shot you're no host! You should be ashamed!!!" Cloud yelled.
"There are too many of us...." Shot said calmly.
"She needs to meet all of us! She has to feel comfortable around us all!" Cloud argued.
"It's not like she will never meet them. She lives here now." Shot said quietly.
"It's fine! Really." Sakura said smiling softly. "There's no need to fight. I don't plan on going anywhere, I'll meet them all eventually."
"You're alot more pateint then I am." Cloud sighed. "Let's go guys, we need to start getting ready." She yelled at the rest of the servants. "Shot, take her to see the entertainers.. now."
"I planned on it." He sighed. Shot took Sakura's hand and lead her out of the doors to the kitchen.
"I'm sorry Shot." Sakura frowned.
"For what, princess?" Shot asked. He smiled to try and comfort her. Then he remembered that she couldn't see him.
"I'm sorry. You got in trouble because of me." She said.
"No. No it's not your fault! Cloud is a perfectionist. If she had it her way you would have met everyone the first day." he said with a laugh in his voice.
Sakura smiled lightly. "I'm glad that you're my guide, Shot. I don't think I would have survived meeting everyone in one day."
"I-I'm.. flattered." Shot was glad she couldn't see him now. He couldn't let her see him blushing.
They walked in silence for a moment.
"Ummn.." Sakura sounded like she was fighting herself.
"Yes? What's wrong princess?" Shot asked.
"Why is it... that I can't see you?" She asked quietly, afraid that she might offend him with the question.
"Well.." he paused, trying to gather the words. "We... are simply servants for the Gods. Sadly because you are not a Goddess, you cannot see us."
"Oh." Sakura looked sad. "So I'll never be able to see you.. or the others?"
"I'm afraid not." Shot replied.
They stopped suddenly in front of two large black and white doors. It was in a part of the castle that Sakura hadn't seen.
"Wow..." Sakura said, looking up to the top of the doors.
They were decorated with vines and roses all the way up. It was so realistic Sakura felt as if she could pluck the petals from the white roses.
"Here we are." Shot said with a sigh.
"You don't sound very enthused." Sakura said, almost laughing. "Why is that?"
Shot knocked on the large doors. It echoed through the halls.
"You'll see why in a moment." He replied quietly.
Sakura stood quietly awaiting what ever Shot was talking about. Suddenly she heard footsteps getting closer and closer. She looked around, frightened. Whom ever it was, they didn't sound happy. They were stomping around. She could feel her heart start racing.
"Shot....?" She sounded frightened.
"Don't worry..." Shot sighed.
Suddenly the doors flew open, but no one was standing there. Sakura thought about running away, but Shot still had her hand, and he wasn't moving.
"Shot! What do you think you're doing?" A voice rang out. "We were practicing out routine! you know not to interu-"
"Illusion." Shot interupted him.
"....excuse me. Did you just.... Shot, what could possibly be soimportant th-"
"Perhaps you can show more respect to the Princess?" Shot said stoically.
"Would you stop interu.... princess?" Illusion looked at Sakura for the first time.
She was very poised and pretty in her white dress. It's frills and lace made her seem very much like she was a story book princess. Once she knew that she wasn't in any danger she smiled very sweetly.
Suddenly she was lifted off of her feet, and her hand left Shot's.
"You are too beautiful princess! I have a place for you in my show! I have dresses I can make for you!" Illusion said in his deep yet soothing voice. He spun her around in his arms and gracefully dipped her backwards and held her there for a moment before tipping her back up and hugging her close.
"Calm down Illusion." Shot said stoically. "And don't get cozy, this is our Master's wife."
Illusion gently took Sakura's hand and kissed it. "It is my absolute pleasure to make your acquaintance, princess."
Sakura blushed, overwhelmed by this man. She curtsied politely. "The pleasure is all mine." she replied.
She felt arms around her again. "You're so darling!" Illusion said.
"Put her down, Illusion." Shot said coldly.
Illusion sat her down.
"What brings you to my nick of the castle?" He asked in a playful tone.
Sakura found herself shy, and a nerves. But she couldn't find her voice. Shot could sence this. He slipped his hand into her's so she knew he was still there. She smiled softly.
"Her family is coming for a visit tomorrow." Shot spoke for Sakura. "Would you and your entertainers like to do a performance for our guests?"
"And why should we grace humans with our performances?" Illusion asked Shot coldly.
"Oh, please, if you don't mind Illusion. I did so hope that you would perform for my family." Sakura said with a smile.
"Anything for you beautiful." Illusion replied.
"Oh, thank you so much!" Sakura said. "But... I do have a question. If we can't see you... how will you entertain us?"
Illusion laughed. "You don't need to see to be entertained, my dear princess. Sight is a privilage!" He put an arm around her. "Come, I'll show you my entertainers!"
He led her past the large doors, and she held tight to Shot's hand. Once all three were in the room the doors creaked to a shut.
In front of her very eyes Sakura witnessed things she never dreamed of. The room was filled with the most beautiful music she had ever heard. The violins' notes shot through her, every sound was so much on purpose. Everything was how it was supposed to be. The flutes hit the highest notes she had ever heard. The deep beat of the drums rattled through her body. This sound was truly only fit for gods. She felt as if just listening to this music was a sin. Yet still... the music moved through her body and into her soul and tugged on her heart until it brought tears to her eyes. Lights of all different colors danced around them, each as vibrant as the sun, with tails that stretched behind them like a falling star. Smoke rose as if it were alive from the black floor and slowly wove itself into images of colorful silhouettes that waltzed around the room, in perfect rhythm with the music.
She lost her breath in the darkness.
"Come now." Illusion's deep voice echoed in the room. "Come meet our princess."
All at once the music stopped and the silhouettes disbanded, all of the colorful suns faded into darkness. There was only silence.
"Hello princess." Came a cheery sounding voice. "My name is Fly. I have been meaning to come and see you!"
Sakura smiled. "I am very pleased to meet you, Fly! Which of those magnificent shows were you?" Sakura asked, still very moved by the sight she had just seen.
"I was the white star." he laughed lightly. "Did you enjoy the show?"
"It was breath taking." Sakura said with a bright smile.
"Allow us to introduce ourselves." A male and female voice said at the same time.
"I am Shadow." a quiet male voice said.
"And I am Nothing." a happy sounding girl said.
"These two are a couple." Illusion added with a chuckle.
"I see." Sakura smiled happily. "I bet you two were the dancers."
"At your service, princess." Nothing said happily.
"You two dance beautifully!" Sakura exclaimed. "It was breath taking!"
"It is the greatest compliment, coming from you princess." Shadow said gratefully.
"How did you like the music?" A soothing woman's voice spoke.
"It brought tears to my eyes." Sakura said without exaggeration. "What do you play?"
"We play the flutes." A playful sounding male spoke.
"This is another couple." Illusion spoke up.
"I am Watery." The female voice said.
"And I am Wave." said the male voice happily. "It is my great pleasure to meet you!" he added.
"It is quite amazing." Another female voice spoke up. "Even I have noticed a difference in our Master since he has been with you, princess Sakura."
Sakura smiled and blushed slightly. "What is your name?" She asked, very excited to meet all of the people who took her breath away.
"I am Return." She said softly. "I am a violinist."
"Your music is beautiful! It pulled at my heart and stole my breath!" Sakura almost sounded breathless now. "It was the most amazing thing I had ever heard."
Return laughed. "I can't take all of the credit for it."
"Oh?" Sakura looked happy to meet another person. "Who else."
"This little one." Return said.
"Hello." a tiny voice said. It was almost inaudible, it was so quiet.
"Hello." Sakura smiled sweetly. "What is your name?"
"I'm sorry princess." The voice sounded sad. "I don't have a name to give you."
"No name?" Sakura looked hurt.
"She was never given a name." Return said with a cheerful tone. "We've taken to simply calling her No Name."
"That's so sad." Sakura said frowning.
"It's ok." No Name said. "I don't mind being nameless, the only thing I regret is not being able to give you my name."
Sakura smiled lightly and the tiny voice. "I am very happy to meet you."
There was silence for a moment before an excitable sounding female spoke up.
"My turn? My turn!" the voice said. Then there was a thudding sound.
Sakura was only to assume that whom ever it was jumped over towards her.
"My name is Storm." she said happily. "I play the drums."
"She's the only one who has enough energy." Illusion sighed.
Sakura laughed. "It's very nice to meet you, Storm."
"Why are you holding hands with Shot?" Storm asked. "It thought you were married to our Master!" she sounded very innocent.
"That is very curious." Illusion added.
"Maze, Move. Come introduce yourselves." Shot said, interrupting that damning conversation before it starts.
"Hello m'am." A voice that sounded like that of a small boy spoke. "My names Move! I'm a star, just like Fly." he added a giggle at the end of his sentece.
Sakura couldn't help but smile, he sounded so adorable. "Really? Which star were you?" She asked happily.
"I was the orange one! Orange is my favorite color! And fruit." He giggled again.
"Forgive him, he's not used to being around royalty." This voice came from a male as well. He sounded like he was barely out of his teens. "I am Maze, the blue star."
"Awll, why'd you have to apologize for Maze? I wasn't doing anything wrong." Move said in a whining voice.
"Shut up, Move. You need to be more respectful!"
"No, no! Please, just act yourselves around me! I would much rather you all be comfortable." Sakura said with a smile.
"You're so kind!" Illusion said. "Now that the introductions are over, back to practice everyone! We'll be entertaining the princess' family tomorrow! Be prepared!."
And just like that all of the servants started practicing, and again the music filled her ears.
"They're so amazing." Sakura whispered to no one in particular.
"I know." Illusion said triumphantly. "I've trained them well!"
"Illusion, you are a very good conductor." Sakura said with a wide smile.
"Don't increase his ego." Shot sighed.
"Conductor? M'am I am simply the singer." Illusion replied to Sakura and pretended not to hear Shot.
"Singer? I would very much like to hear!" Sakura grew excited.
"It would be my pleasure." Illusion said.
Shot sighed heavily.
Illusion must have made a gesture to the rest of the servants because everyone stopped for a moment, and the band started playing a different song. It was slow and steady, starting at first with the high notes of the flutes taking the sound easily into the soft violins. The drum kept in beat with Sakura's heart. Sakura closed her eyes and could feel the music in her soul. She breathed it in and held her breath, trying to hold onto this feeling as long as she could. Then came a beautiful sound that she hadn't heard before. A voice that was so powerful it stopped her heart for a moment. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever heard, in a language that she wasn't failure with.
The fact that Sakura was even aloud to be among creatures who could make such beautiful music brought tears to her eyes. She was so honored to be there, to hear it all.
She felt like a goddess.
The song continued for a little over two minutes. The ending was so touching as all the notes got quieter and eventually fell silent and Illusions voice shook with emotion up until the very last word.
Sakura found the will to clap for them after her heart started beating again.
"That was wonderful!" Sakura exclaimed.
"Thank you princess." Illusion said. He knelt down and took Sakura's hand and kissed it. "It was our great pleasure to meet you, however, we do need our practice so we can be prepared for your family tomorrow."
She felt Shot squeez her hand for a moment.
"What's wrong Shot?" She heard Illusion say.
"Perhaps you should get so friendly with our Master's wife?" It sounded like Shot was speaking through his teeth.
"Me, friendly? You are the one who hasn't let her hand go." Illusion said with a taunting sound in his voice. "I find that very curious."
Sakura wished so much that she could see her servants. It was hard to read exactly what they meant without seeing their faces. But before another word was said she felt herself being led away by the hand.
"goodbye everyone." Sakura said smiling back at the room full of lights and smoke.
The large doors creaked open and shut slowly behind Shot and Sakura. She closed her eyes for a moment. The orange fading light was cruel to her. Her eyes had adjusted to the darkness of the room.
"Is there anything else you need to prepare, princess?" Shot asked her calmly.
"No.." Sakura said quietly. "...Shot?"
"Yes?" he replied, slowly leading her back to her room.
"Why don't you and Illusion get along?"
"He's a playboy, and he thinks he's better then everyone else." Shot sounded like a snapped. His voice was cruel compared to his usual kind tone.
Sakura grew quiet. She felt like she shouldn't have asked.
"Don't look so sad Princess." Shot said quickly. "I-I didn't mean to snap."
"I'm just sorry that I can't comfort you." She said. "You're my friend and I am worthless to you even when you're upset." She frowned at the ground.
Shot tightened his grip on her hand for a moment.
"Just having you here makes things better Sakura." He smiled, despite the fact that she couldn't see him. "It may not be my place, but Li's being with you is probably the best thing that's happened to me."
Sakura smiled brightly at her friend. "Thank you Shot."
"For what?" he asked curiously.
"For calling me Sakura."
--
For Li the days seemed to last for years. He would sit by himself and wait for the sun to sink away and be replaced by the moon. He was developing an impatience, even a hatred for the garish light of day. He knew as long as the sun was up, he couldn't be with Sakura.
He loved her so dearly, he could hardly breath when they were apart. The boy was becoming an insomniac, for even when Sakura falls asleep he dosn't want to close his eyes. He was afraid that he would wake and it would all just be a dream. One day he would wake to find himself in his mother's castle bending to her every will.
And Ruby! She was getting suspicious. She keeps saying that she wants to come to Li's castle. She says she wants to know why he isn't staying with her anymore, why he's been so impatient. Why he always seems happier when the moon came out. What was so great about his home that made him rush to get there when the moon came out.
He just kept arguing with her, and chasing her away. He faced the wrath of an angry Ruby Moon just so she wouldn't come around. He couldn't imagine how his mother would react to knowing that her son was with the very human she wanted destroyed. That would be catastrophic. He feared that soon she would come without an invitation.
Twilight stole Li from his thoughts. It was time to start heading home. It was the first time he'd smiled all day.
--
Sakura had developed a routine for herself while she waited for Li to come home. She changed into her night clothes, sat with Shot, Sand, Hope, and the Twins and they talked until they got word that Li had arrived.
Tonight however everyone was busy preparing for the visitors tomorrow and the only people in her room with her were Shot and Hope.
"Are you excited princess?" Hope asked happily.
"Very much so." Sakura replied smiling. "I have missed my brother so much!"
"What about your sisters?" Shot asked.
"Of course, them too." Sakura said with a smirk. "I do love my sisters.. but I'll always be partial to my brother. He's always taken care of me and made me happy. He always felt like he was responsible for me because he was the oldest sibling and I was the baby. He was never far from me." She laughed. "Whether he wanted to be or not. He couldn't go anywhere without me two steps behind. My mother used to say it was like watching a duckling following it's mother."
"What are your sisters like?" Hope asked.
"What are their names?" Shot asked. "I've never heard about them, but I've heard plenty about Toya."
"Meilin and Chiharu." Sakura said quietly to herself. "They're...... nice." Sakura lied with a faint smile on her face.
"What are they like?" Hope asked.
But luckily Sand popped in at this moment. "Hey guys, Master Li is here."
Saved.
What could she have told them? That her sisters were mean, cruel, and envious. They are vengeful and they liked making Sakura's life a living hell. The reason she and Toya were so close is because was always the one saving her from her sisters. She didn't want them to think bad of her sisters before they ever met. On the other hand she didn't want to lie to Shot and Hope, they were her two closest friends.
It was so dark and quiet in her room that when the door closed suddenly it frightened Sakura. She hadn't been expecting it. She heard Li laugh lightly.
"Why so jumpy, love?" Li asked with a laugh in his voice.
"I was just lost in my thoughts." Sakura replied with a smile. "How was your day, darling?"
"Busy." Li replied, sitting next to Sakura on the bed. "It was a long day."
"Really? Why?" Sakura asked with concern in her voice.
"I've taken to counting the minutes that we're apart, it only makes the days seem longer." Li smiled lightly at his love, and he gently moved his hand over top of her's.
She blushed, her heart was racing. She longed for him as well through out the days. At times when she is by herself she will find her mind wandering to Li, and noticing how the days creep by so slowly. When they are together she feels complete, like she can breath again.
"How was your day, Sakura?" Li asked with honest curiosity in his voice.
"It was fun!" sakura said happily. "Shot took me to meet the entertainers behind the big doors with roses on them!"
"How did you like Illusion?" Li asked stoically.
"He was flattering... and a little strange. He and Shot don't seem to get along." Sakura said, remembering the days events.
"I don't doubt it. Illusion is overbearing most of the time." Li replied with a sigh. "Did they agree to entertain your family?"
"They were very willing!" Sakura said. "I didn't even have to ask them."
Li smiled, he already knew that they would never deny Sakura anything, but he did love to hear her so happy. Just last night she was so sad she had made herself sick.
"....they be here?"
Li broke himself from his thoughts. "What?" he asked.
"When will they be here?' She asked again, smiling brightly.
"Before noon, tomorrow." Li replied.
She grew excited. "I can't believe I'll get to see them again."
"Are you happy?" Li asked the obvious.
"More then I could express!" she replied.
Li kissed her softly. "I'm glad." he smiled at her.
She ran her fingers loving through his hair and remembered back to her home. When Clow said she would be married to a monster. A creature that was likely to eat her after a short time, and yet here she is. running her fingers through thick hair, laying her hand on his soft cheek. The only thing not human about him was his wings, which tend to appear only when he wanted them.
He wasn't a monster. He was an angel.
An angel she thought Am I already that gone?
She pressed her lips against his, and took a long moment to decide what it meant.
He has to be an angel "What else could make me feel this way?" she whispered.
"What?"
"I love you, Li."
He put his forehead to her's and smiled gently. "I love you too.."
In the darkness they shared a kiss, and for a moment wished for eternal night.
